Practical, technically informed support for routine and complex lifting operations. ALS can deliver complete packages or work alongside existing client teams.

Lift Planning & Engineering
Planning from the Ground Up
Complete lift planning from feasibility and equipment selection through to execution support, or targeted assistance to established client lifting teams.
Assessment of load characteristics, foundations and ground bearing pressures, crane configuration, lifting radii, rigging arrangements, access and lift sequencing.
Appointed Person (AP) and Lifting Supervisor services can be provided where competence, scope and formal appointments are agreed.
02 / SPECIALIST SERVICE
Independent Lift Plan Reviews
Independent Technical Review. Confidence Before Execution.
Independent technical reviews of contractor, crane provider and client lift plans, including associated calculations, configurations, ground conditions, rigging and RAMS.
Reviews consider applicable LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, relevant parts of BS 7121, project requirements and, for overseas projects, the relevant local legal and technical framework.
Findings identify gaps and practical improvements; an independent review does not itself constitute statutory certification or automatically transfer approval responsibilities.

Lift Coordination & Lifting Operations Management
Coordinated Operations. Clear Responsibilities. Safer Lifting.
Dedicated Lift Coordinator and Lifting Operations Management support for individual lifts, multi-contractor projects, shutdowns and operational facilities.
Coordination of schedules, lifting interfaces, personnel, cranes, permit arrangements, communications and operational readiness.
ALS can work within existing client management structures or provide agreed dedicated coordination roles.
04 / SPECIALIST SERVICE
Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
Assess the Actual Operation. Establish the Controls.
Preparation and independent review of task-specific lifting RAMS that reflect the load, equipment, configuration, site conditions, personnel and surrounding operations.
Common lifting hazards are a starting point, not a substitute for assessing the specific activity. Risk controls must be practical, proportionate and consistent with the method statement and lift plan.
Changes to agreed lifting arrangements—including crane or lifting equipment configuration, rigging arrangements, lifting accessories or the method of execution—must be assessed for their impact. Material changes require appropriate review, documentation and authorisation by competent personnel before the operation proceeds or resumes. Revised arrangements must be communicated to and understood by the work party.

Audits & Compliance
Beyond Compliance. Assessing What Happens in Practice.
Independent audits of lifting management systems, contractor arrangements, competence, equipment management, lift plans, RAMS, supervision and compliance with applicable standards.
Face-to-face engagement with lifting teams and, where practicable and authorised, observation of real operations to understand whether procedures are understood and followed.
Objective findings, constructive workforce dialogue and practical recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.

Lifting Operations Oversight
Active Oversight. Effective Intervention. Safer Operations.
Proactive site-based verification of lifting arrangements, operational readiness, equipment, personnel, communication, exclusion zones and SIMOPS interfaces.
Active engagement with the work party, monitoring of changing conditions and intervention where unsafe conditions or deviations arise.
Oversight supports and verifies the effectiveness of lifting arrangements; it does not automatically replace the responsibilities of client management, the Appointed Person or the Lifting Supervisor. Any formal ALS appointment must be clearly defined and agreed.
